Sid Whittaker
Owner

Sid Whittaker was born in Prince George, B.C. and completed his school years in Surrey, B.C.  Sid and his father, Jack, started up Hazelwood Construction back in 1993.  Their civil construction business experienced steady growth and back in 2003 Sid had the opportunity to get involved with K2 Stone.  A year later Sid bought the company.  Sid enjoys spending his free time outdoors; one of his favorite passions is salmon fishing.

Chris Nudd
CFO, Hazelwood Group

While growing up in Vernon BC, Chris always had an interest in Entrepreneurship and Accounting. He pursued these interests by completing his Bachelor of Commerce in Entrepreneurship from Royal Roads University in 2005 and his Certified General Accountant designation in 2009. Through his time at Royal Roads Chris was able to write the business plan for K2 along with a group of his peers. Subsequent to completing this and graduating, Chris joined K2 as a junior accountant in 2006. Since that time Chris has enjoyed being a part of K2 as it has grown and developed into an entrepreneurial success. While Chris’s role has shifted to being the CFO for the Hazelwood Group, he is still actively involved in K2 overseeing the Finance and Accounting for the business. Chris has recently become a full time Nanaimo resident with his wife and two kids.

Michael Penner
Vice President of Sales

Michael’s passion is solving problems. His background in Automation and Instrumentation lead him to 7 years of working for a large multi-national manufacturing company in various capacities including Field Service, Engineering, Business Development and Management. A strong desire to be a part of building a great company led Michael to complete a degree in Commerce and subsequently joining K2 Stone in 2010. Michael’s passions include: spending time with his family, fishing and everything outdoors.

Dave Rinas
US Sales Manager

Dave was born and raised in Creston, BC.  He started in construction at an early age with his father’s contracting company. After graduating high school Dave moved to Calgary where he completed a drafting course at SAIT.  Dave moved to Cranbrook BC, 1986 where he took an upholstery apprenticeship. He moved to Nanaimo in 1990, where he ran a successful upholstery business until 2005; when he accepted an offer from K2 Stone to help develop their sales department.  He continues to develop markets on Vancouver Island and in the United States.  In his spare time, Dave plays hockey, enjoys camping, fishing and working on projects with his sons.

Dave Rinehart
US Sales Manager

Dave was born and raised in Janesville, Wisconsin.  After completing high school he moved to Coeur d’Alene to attend North Idaho College.  In 1994 Dave was offered the opportunity to pursue one of his passions by managing Bike Rite; a cycling shop in Kalispell, Montana.  Dave purchased Bike Rite in 1995 and operated it until 2004 when he sold the shop.  Dave’s next challenge was to learn about the building and landscape stone market when he was offered a position with K2 Stone. He was hired to help develop 3rd party dealers and distributors in the United States focusing mostly on the upper Midwest; as well as the Central and Northern Rockies.  Dave spends his spare time skiing, mountain biking, hiking, whitewater rafting, and fishing with his wife and four children on the mountains and rivers of Montana.
